Accountability

  • The management committee is responsible for the direction, control, and monitoring of the organization in accordance with its constitutional and legal obligations. Board members are directly accountable to committee membership at General Meetings, AGM, and public consultations.
  • The Management Committee also has accountability to: staff members, who seek leadership and direction from the committee; clients and the community, to ensure maintenance of a viable and responsive service; funding bodies, to comply with legal requirements of funding arrangements; the NSW Department of Fair Trading and other legislative directives.

Position Goals

  1. Promote and provide good governance and effective leadership to the organisation by ensuring BCRG has:
    • Clear strategic direction and achievable plans in line with its aims and principles.
    • Sufficient resources to carry out its work
    • An effective policy framework to guide its work, carry out plans, and meet its obligations
    • Adequate internal controls to ensure sound financial management, risk management, and legal compliance
      – Adequate internal accountability procedures to guarantee compliance with policies and procedures and to monitor the organisation’s performance.
  2. Demonstrate a strong commitment to the objectives and principles of BCRG, including a commitment to social justice
  3. Adhere to the organisations Code of Conduct for the Management Committee

Position Duties

  1. Attending scheduled meetings, participating in discussions, voting on decisions, and ensuring committee resolutions are carried out
  2. Reviewing agenda and other documents prior to committee meetings
  3. Advising Executive Officer in identifying strategic priorities and developing and implementing organisational plans
  4. Approving and reviewing outcomes and evaluation mechanisms designed by the organisation, and continually assessing its performance based on those outcomes and mechanisms
  5. Approving BCRG’s annual budget and audit reports, and monitoring financial performance to ensure the solvency and viability of the organisation
  6. Being informed of, and ensuring the organisation complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory requirements
  7. Assisting with the identification and recruitment of other MC members and developing succession plans to ensure the least possible disruption to the Association
  8. Contributing to the review and management of the Management Committee’s own performance
  9. Contributing to the annual performance evaluation of the EO
  10. Acting as an ambassador for BCRG to stakeholders
  11. Ensuring committee and staff reflect a commitment to diversity and the client groups BCRG serves

Agency Responsibilities

  1. Cooperate with WH&S policy and procedures to ensure their own health and safety and the health and safety of clients and colleagues in the workplace
  2. To demonstrate professional behaviour towards the management and staff and towards staff in other organisations
  3. Represent the clients and the service in a professional manner
  4. Adhere to BCRG Policies and Procedures
